Well I wanted to wait until after my 37 week OBGYN appointment before I wrote this post. So that's why it's a bit late. Today I am actually 37 weeks and 3 days pregnant! YAY, I am FULL TERM and baby girl can come any day now!!!
Ok so the true reason this post is a bit late is that last week at my OBGYN appointment, I measured about 3 weeks smaller than I should. So, in case you don't know, at every doctors appointment they measure your uterus (it's called the fundal height) and it's supposed to be about the same that you are gestationally...so at 35 weeks your fundal height should be around 35cm give or take a centimeter. Well at both my 35 and 36 week appointment, my fundal height was only 33cm so the doctor had me schedule an ultrasound for right before my 37 week appointment because that is enough of size difference to worry a bit. The doctor didn't seem too worried but she wasn't acting like her usual chipper self so I could tell there really was a true concern but obviously not enough to send my off to the ultrasound department right away (so that eased my anxiety a little). I spent most of last week a little worried but good ole Google actually helped to ease my mind this time (usually it just worries me more haha). According to my research, it can be normal for baby to measure small. Some of the reasons she could be measuring small are the position she is laying in my uterus or that her head is engaged which means that her head is locked into the position for delivery. I found some kind of scary reasons too but I didn't let myself dwell on those because I knew there would be no point to worry about them without seeing her on the ultrasound. My only true worry really was that because I have had higher blood pressure since January and plus all of the preeclampsia symptoms (I do not have preeclampsia thankfully) that perhaps she has measuring small because of those complications. All I knew what that I wanted it to be Tuesday so badly! It actually took me awhile to get excited about getting to see her again. I got caught up in all the worry...but it's really awesome to get to see her again so late in the pregnancy! And I we'll get that extra confirmation that she is indeed a SHE.
So here it is, it's finally Tuesday!
My ultrasound was at 8:30am and I am so happy Jonathan got to come with me!
Alright I will get right to it.
*This is her face...the best shot they could get. You can kind of see her two eyes and nose.
We went in for the ultrasound at 8:30am. She is in fact still a girl! Yay! Her head was so low that they could not get a good picture of her face at all and everything else was so squished in there that the ultrasound wasn't all that exciting at least in the sense of being able to see her. MadeLynn's measurement are:
Her head measured 38 weeks 2 days
Her Stomach measured 39 weeks 6 days
Her upper arm length measured 38 weeks 3 days
Her upper leg length measured 37 week 4 days
And she has an estimated weight of 8lbs!!!
She is in the 79% for weight!
So she's not small at all!! My fundal height measurement was off because of how she is laying in my uterus. She is currently head down and laying on her left side with her bottom underneath my right rib and the placenta taking up most of the left side of my uterus. And my fundal height was 38cm so back on track!
How far
along? 37 weeks but baby girl is measuring much further along.
Maternity
clothes/What I am wearing: I have like 3 shirts that actually cover my full belly now. Luckily my undershirts are all very long so they cover what the shirts do not.
Stretch
marks? MadeLynn likes to sit very low under my belly button and that is where
all my stretch marks are. I use coco butter and have not gotten any more since
I started at 30 weeks. They are very thin so I am hoping they are the kind that
disappears after birth.
Sleep: Is a little better this week. I only wake up about 5 times a night at most...it was every hour the past week or so.
Best moment
this week: Today! We got to see MadeLynn and I am 1cm dilated, 0% effaced and -3 station.
Movement: My strong baby can kick like crazy for hours.
Food
cravings: Still tea.
Anything
making you queasy or sick? Not anymore
Gender: A
girl...Miss MadeLynn Rose...confirmed again at the ultrasound today
Labor signs:
Tons of pressure and baby girl is sitting SUPER low, mild cramping, Braxton
hicks and 1cm dilated
Symptoms: I need a nap everyday and my feet are always swollen
Belly button
in or out? Is totally flat! I would say it's still an innie
Wedding rings
on or off? Off since 30 weeks due to swelling...boo hoo
Happy or
moody most of the time? Happy!
Looking
forward to: showing more signs of labor! If she is indeed 8lbs right now, we may be seeing her sooner rather than later!
